Summer is an amazing time for children, filled with endless fun and memories. As a parent, I wanted to make sure my kids had a summer to remember, full of fun and learning. When they needed a break from the outdoor heat or to pass time while traveling, I wanted them to have something that will keep them busy! That’s why I decided to create personalized activity binders for each of them. Here’s how I did it and some tips if you want to do the same!
Gather Your Supplies
First things first, you’ll need some basic supplies:
Binders (one for each child).
Dividers
Colored paper
Markers, stickers, crayons, beads, and lots of small decorating items.
Scissors and glue
Printable worksheets and activity pages
I opted for sturdy 3" binders with clear pockets on the front so my kids could decorate their own covers. This added a personal touch and got them excited about their new binders.

I added a square lego board in the inside of the binder. I added a lego set in one of the pencil pouches. I filled up one pouch with crayons, pencils and markers. The next one I added a scissors, glue, and an eraser.
I printed out these Playdough Mats and got some small 1oz size tubs of Playdough.
I printed out lots of activity sheets, math practice, and puzzles. (Found lots of free printables online.) I sorted it by age and added the necessary stickers or paint brush to those that needed it. I did refill this one after a few days as those sheets went fast!
For my 3 year-old little boy I added a pouch with some cars and road tape. The tape left no residue when he put it straight onto the table or floors and it was great having it around. He used it whenever he was in the mood of his cars!
For the girls I added some jewelry making materials. As time went by their bracelet stack grew and grew! The jewelry materials came neatly packaged so it fit in the binder well.
Creating these activity binders was rewarding for both me and my children. It’s a project that combines creativity, organization, and a love for learning. If you’re looking for a way to make your children’s summer special, give this a try.
Happy summer!
